Description

A one-of-a-kind 33-bead tasbeeh, made with grounding gemstones and an antique brass ghungroo (bell) passed down from my grandmother.

Traditionally, tasbeehs are used for the practice of Zikr (ذِكْر), which literally means "remembrance" in Arabic. An esoteric contemplative practice, Zikr is the repetition of a sacred word to invoke its divine qualities within- thus remembering one’s true nature, which is often forgotten by the intoxication of our illusory experience of reality. (—or getting 'lost in the sauce', as I call it.)

The tasbeeh beads act as a means to stay on count during Zikr, as the number of repetitions are metaphysically significant for the practice. The 33 beads of the tasbeeh are already symbolic of this numerical code, as one that’s in alignment with the geometry of the cosmos.

This particular tasbeeh is named Palmyra, after the ancient Mesopotamian city, for its crimson hues. Designed with beads of Carnelian, Citrine, Pyrite, Onyx, Unakite Jasper and Quartz, the minerals are resonant with the elements of Fire, Water and Ether.

Total weight: 39g Comes with a cloth pouch.
